The Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki have said that what happened in the Edo State House of Assembly was an alleged coup d’-etat and the perpetrators will face the rule of law he stated.
The governor made the disclosure due to the recent takeover by some members of the house and thereby going ahead to impeach the sitting speaker and swore in a new one in an undisclosed location.
Godwin Obaseki who accused his predecessor Adams Oshomole of throwing the state into anarchy by initiating plans to disrupt the peaceful conduct ahead of the September 9th governorship elections.

Godwin Obaseki further stated that the purported move by the law makers to adopt a new speaker of the house illegally is a threat to the stability of democracy in Edo State.
Their actions is tantamount to treason and the government will ensure due steps are taken to handle the issues he stated.
