NDDC Board: Senate Confirms Onochie’s Appointment

The nomination of Lauretta Ifeanyi-Onochie, the president’s Special Assistant on New Media, as the substantive Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission was approved by the Senate on Tuesday, despite criticisms that followed her nomination.

Goldennewsng reports that Following the screening of the nominees that took place on Friday at the National Assembly complex, 12 more were also confirmed by the Senate during the plenary session.

Lauretta Ifeanyi-Onochie, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on New Media, was confirmed by the Senate as the substantive Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, a move that received both praise and criticism from some quarters.

In the letter, Buhari also listed 14 additional individuals as Board members, Executive Directors, and Managing Directors.

They include Bayelsa State native Samuel Ogbokwu as the managing director, who would serve a two-year term to finish his predecessor’s term.

Dimgba Erugba, who represented Abia State, Dr. Emem Willcox Wills, who represented Akwa Ibom, Elder Denyanbofa Dimaro, who represented Bayelsa State, and Hon. Dr. Pius Odudu (Edo State) and Orok Duke (Cross River)

Engineer Anthony Ekenne, of Imo State Gbenga Edema (Ondo State), Elekwachi Dimkpa (Rivers State), Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Abubakar (Nasarawa State, representing the North-Central Zone), Alhaji Sadiq Sami Sule – Ikoh (Kebbi State, North-West), and Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN (Adamawa State, North-East).
