The appointment of Akin Osuntokun, the new Director General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, has been discussed.

Goldennewsng reports that He claimed that he accepted the position without considering his religion or ethnicity.

Additionally, he denied that he may have lobbied for or influenced his new position.

Osuntokun was responding to questions from The PUNCH regarding how he would respond to critics from the South West, which is dominated by the All Progressives Congress and supporters of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for collaborating with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

“We are removing Nigeria from the culture of sentiments,” he stated. We will not contribute to the continuation of those primordial feelings. This time, it shouldn’t matter if you’re Yoruba, Igbo, or Fulani to win the election.

We will, otherwise, be held accountable for everything that has gone wrong in this country. The competence and antecedents should be the focus of the question.

Osuntokun acknowledged that he would not be the only person who would be subjected to such pressure when asked if he would be under any kind of pressure following his appointment following Okupe’s departure.

Osuntokun stated that despite the fact that his new position may entail additional responsibilities, he was capable of handling pressure.

Naturally, the other DGs of other campaigns will also be affected. Until after the election, everyone in the campaign hierarchy will inevitably be under pressure. It’s not like sitting in an armchair.

Naturally, it makes me feel good. I am excited about the new position. It didn’t come to me as a shock. I didn’t campaign for it.

“As the zonal organizer of the South West and in the pecking order of the mission association, I’m close to the DG of the South West. It didn’t come as a surprise to me when viewed from that angle. That is an easy way to explain that, “he stated.

Talking on how he expected to raise a ruckus around town running, the previous overseeing overseer of Information Organization of Nigeria said that he had an impressive abundance of involvement with terms of partaking in the official political decision in Nigeria.

It’s not brand-new land. He stated, “I served as a political adviser and led the presidential elections in 2003 and 2007.”

On Tuesday, the new campaign manager for President Olusegun Obasanjo was announced in Abuja as the former aide.

He took over for the former director general, Doyin Okupe, who resigned last Tuesday in a letter after he was found guilty of breaking the money laundering act by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Emeka Obasi, Obi’s Media Aide, informed our correspondent two days ago that the campaign council’s new DG would be announced within 48 hours.

However, following a strategic meeting of the party in which Obi, members of the National Working Committee, and a number of Labour Party political candidates were present, LP National Chairman Julius Abure informed journalists that Osuntokun had been chosen.

He called the former NAN managing director a “worthy and trustworthy” Okupe replacement.

When Osuntokun left the People’s Democratic Party to join the LP in August 2022, he took over as the party’s leader in the South West.
