President Muhammadu Buhari has made it clear that he is looking forward to retiring this year, when his term ends.

Goldennewsng reports that he claims that he is eager to retire and wants to conduct a credible election.

This was said by the president at the State House in Abuja during the course of the week when he received a message from the Special Envoy of President Evariste Ndayishimiye of the Republic of Burundi.

According to Buhari, Nigeria will provide Burundi with support in a variety of ways as required in the spirit of African brotherhood and solidarity.

Mr. Audace Niyonzima, Burundi’s Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, stated that his president sent greetings of goodwill to Nigerians and President Buhari for the New Year.

Additionally, he wished the nation success in the upcoming general elections in February and March of this year.

The Special Envoy stated, “We pray that the elections would be peaceful and successful so that Nigeria would maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability.”

President Buhari stated that he understood what it was like for a nation to experience an energy shortage in response to the leader of Burundi’s request for assistance in the provision of energy, particularly fuel.

As a result, he promised to investigate the request with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd.

On Tuesday, President Buhari had already signed into law the N21.83 trillion budget for 2023 and the 2022 supplemental appropriations bill in Abuja.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the current administration has finished preparing only the budget for 2023.

The president stated when he signed the budget that the total expenditures of N21.83 trillion were increased by N1.32 trillion over the executive’s initial proposal of N20.51 trillion.

Regarding the supplementary appropriation bill, the president stated that the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act would enable the administration to respond to the devastation in the infrastructure and agriculture sectors brought on by the most recent nationwide floods.

In light of the impending transition to a new democratically elected government, Buhari stated that the reason he decided to sign the 2023 Appropriation Bill as passed by the National Assembly was to allow for its immediate implementation.

He, on the other hand, gave the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning the task of communicating with the legislature about some of the changes to the budget proposal that had been made.

The president gave the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning the task of working toward the early release of the capital votes for 2023 in order to give MDAs enough time to start working on their capital projects.

He claims that the purpose of this is to assist in the delivery of important projects and public services and to improve Nigerians’ living conditions.

Concerning the Finance Bill 2022, the president expressed regret that the National Assembly’s review had not yet been completed.

In order to ensure that the annual appropriation bill would be passed before the start of the fiscal year, the president expressed the hope that the subsequent administration would continue to do so.

While praising Nigerians’ continued tenacity, understanding, and willingness to give up in the face of the country’s current economic difficulties, Buhari expressed his sincere gratitude to the all-powerful God for His grace.

In addition, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo was hosted by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the president approved the deployment of cutting-edge technology to combat security concerns in the South East.

After the meeting with President Buhari, Uzodinma told State House correspondents that he was at the villa to express his gratitude to the president for the various supports and assistance provided to the state.

He claims that advanced surveillance equipment will soon be delivered to the region with the president’s approval, enhancing the fight against insecurity without causing collateral damage.

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Delta, was also present when the president met with him on January 5.

After the closed-door meeting, Omo-Agege spoke with journalists and dismissed the idea that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has a firm grip on Delta.

He stated, ” “Delta is extremely ripe for the taking,” he continued, adding that the designation of Delta as a PDP state was erroneous.

“Titling Delta State as a PDP state is a very serious misconception. Delta is extremely tempting to acquire. We are set on achieving this.

When Peter Mbah, CEO of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd., paid President Buhari a thank-you visit on Friday, he said that the country’s ongoing fuel shortage and its accompanying long lines at filling stations were caused by insufficient investment in the downstream sector.

Mbah, the PDP candidate for governor of Enugu State in the upcoming election, stated that Pinnacle Oil and Gas had invested approximately a billion dollars to address the stagnation of downstream investment.

The week came to a close with the president meeting with Borno Gov. Babagana Zulum behind closed doors.

After the meeting, Zulum boasted to State House correspondents that his state was prepared for the February and March general elections.

Before, during, and after the elections, he promised voters their safety.
