
As part of plans to assist relatives of its personnels that died in active service, the Nigeria Police has presented cheques amounting to thirty-seven million, nine hundred and twelve thousand, forty-four naira, sixty-nine kobo (N37,912,044.69k) to fifty-two families of Police personnel who died in active service in Niger State Command within the year 2019 to 2022.
This according to a statement signed by the Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun is in continuation of Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba’s Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police CP Ogundele Ayodeji while presenting the cheques on behalf of the IGP to the next of kin and family members in Minna said that losing personnel in the line of duty is a painful experience.
While praying God to grant the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses, he expressed shock over the recent incident where the Command lost some of its personnel in active service.
The CP appreciated the IGP for his effort in providing succor for the families of deceased personnel, as he noted that the money will go a long way to assist them.
Speaking on behalf of the families, Daniel Asar and Abubakar Mohammed appreciated the IGP, the CP, Niger State Police Command and particularly, the Insurance officer of the Command for their efforts towards getting the claims.
The Command’s clergymen SP Yakubu Tahir and SP Ebede Tobechukwu prayed for the families and the repose of the departed souls.
