The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged believers across the State and Nigerians to be hopeful that the nation would overcome its present challenges.
In his Easter message titled Be of Good Cheer, for I have Overcome the World
(John 16:33), the State CAN Chairman, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna also charged Christians to be transparent in their dealings.
According to him “this is the time for us, Christians particularly in Nigeria to be hopeful, steadfast and prayerful so that our dear State and the nation at large would overcome the present challenges that have bedeviled our nation.”
He added that with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which brings about hope, “Niger State will rise from all the challenges we are facing and we are going to rejoice and be proud of our State again in the name of Jesus Christ.”
Most Rev. Yohanna who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese charged Christians to be transparent in their dealings saying “we are called upon to be transparent Christians, showing others, through our lives of love, mercy, compassion and self-sacrificing service, that the Risen Jesus is living in our hearts”.
While thanking God for a peaceful Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, the CAN Chairman prayed to God to grant the newly elected leaders especially the Governor elect and House of Assembly Members wisdom and the resources to lead the people.
“I pray God to fast-tract the resurrection of the State and indeed Nigeria from all her pains and challenges so that those that have tasted in the suffering in the nation might equally eat of the good of the nation”.
He also commended the security agencies for all they are doing at nipping insecurity in the bud, especially for the supreme price some of them had paid.
Accordingly, he said “we seize this opportunity of Easter to pray for comfort for their families and urge the government to take good care of the people they left behind.
“I also urge the Federal and State Governments to work harder to bring reprieve to the people from all these challenges very soon.”
He further charged Christian faithfuls to use the Easter celebrations to show love to the less privileged in society by sharing gifts to the needy, widows and orphans within their environment.
