Introduction:

HND conversion to B.Sc is a viable option for individuals currently in Nigeria who hold a Higher National Diploma. Historically, HND graduates have faced discrimination in various domains, including the workplace, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps, and society at large. However, several universities in Nigeria now offer conversion programs, providing an opportunity for HND holders to bridge the gap between their diploma and a Bachelor’s degree.

  1. Who Are The HND Students? Higher National Diploma (HND) is a diploma awarded by a Polytechnic upon the completion of a two-year post-IT program. It serves as an advanced qualification for students who have already obtained a National Diploma (ND) from a Polytechnic.
  2. Difference Between ND & HND: National Diploma is the first diploma awarded by a Polytechnic after a two-year course program. Following the award of a National Diploma, students are required to complete a one-year compulsory Industrial Training program in their chosen field of study. Upon completion, they can return to the Polytechnic for an additional two years to obtain a Higher National Diploma.
  3. Why is HND Different from BSc? HND and BSc differ in terms of the institutions that award them. HND is conferred by Polytechnics, while BSc degrees are awarded by universities. The dichotomy between HND and BSc has perpetuated discrimination against HND holders, although there have been efforts to challenge this perception over time.
  4. Is HND Conversion to BSc Possible? According to Flippstack findings, HND conversion to BSc is indeed possible, as many Nigerian universities now offer conversion programs to interested students. This opportunity allows HND holders to upgrade their qualifications and enhance their career prospects.
  5. Universities Where HND Can Be Converted to BSc: Several universities in Nigeria provide HND conversion programs, typically lasting for one year, unless stated otherwise. Here are some notable universities offering HND to BSc conversion:
