Niger State Former Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Honourable Jonathan Vatsa has donated food items to about five hundred orphans and empowered over fifty women with cash gifts and grinding machines.
Vatsa who is also Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State donated food items amongst others to the Bethany Orphanage home in Minna.
The beneficiaries who are mostly Muslim widows got grinding machines and cash donations at the Gbaiko community in Minna.
While presenting the items in Minna as part of activities to mark his 62nd birthday, Vatsa said the gesture was borne out of support for orphans and women especially widows in the State and to further allow them to have a fulfilled Sallah celebration.
According to him “every of my birthdays, I usually do my beeeeest to touch lives and coincidentally, this week is Eid-El-Fitr and with the Sallah celebration I feel it is appropriate for me to also present the items to them (widows) even though I had visited the Orphanage few days ago butwhere we reached out to about five hundred children.
The essence of life is to make other people happy. My prayer everyday is that God should help me so that I can sustain this gesture and even do better in reaching out to the downtrodden, widows and petty traders in Niger state”.
Some of the beneficiaries Aishetu Adamu and Zainab Shehu expressed their gratitude saying “Oga Vatsa has wiped away tears from our eyes, it is only God that can reward him”.
