The FCT-Internal Revenue Service has requested Abuja-based socialite Aisha Achimugu to provide details of her annual tax returns through a now-deleted post on its official X (formerly Twitter) platform.
In the message, the FCT-IRS extended birthday wishes to Achimugu, reminding her to fulfill her tax obligations by filing her annual tax returns. This move followed viral reports of Achimugu celebrating her 50th birthday on the Caribbean island of Grenada with friends and high-profile figures, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In response to claims that his visit was for the birthday party, Sanwo-Olu released photos of himself in Grenada presenting a miniature of the Blue Line train to Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Michelle, emphasizing that it was part of talks on bilateral relations between Grenada and Lagos State.
The two leaders engaged in discussions on tourism, agriculture, and other economic interests during Governor Sanwo-Olu’s visit to Grenada. In addition to attending social engagements, Prime Minister Michelle mentioned Grenada’s upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration in February.
Achimugu’s birthday celebration took place on Calivigny Island, an 80-acre private location costing approximately $132,000 per night. Reports suggest the organizers rented the island for seven days, totaling about $924,000, along with additional charges. The festivities started on January 16 with guests arriving and concluded on January 23 with an all-white breakfast, followed by a luxurious ‘glitz and glam’ themed dinner before guests bid farewell to Grenada.
Responding to media attention, Achimugu, the Managing Director of Felak Concept Group, referred to herself as the most popular person globally. In a statement, she expressed no apologies for her birthday celebration, stating that Nigerians should ‘expect more.’ Despite the media buzz, she thanked those who genuinely showed concern and reassured that she was well and in high spirits. She emphasized her carefree attitude, asserting that she is celebrating with those who genuinely love her and have been there for her over the years.
