Actor, Kunle Remi Reveals How He Battled Depression

The well-known Nigerian actor Kunle Remi has spoken about his battle with depression.

Goldennewsng reports that he talked about his battles with depression in the past and said that in 2017 he almost killed himself.

In a video that he shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, the Anikulapo star spoke up.

Remi was reacting to the suicide of Twitch, a well-known American DJ, on Wednesday, calling his death a sad news.

Remi went on to encourage men to talk about their problems and problems they’re having and to take breaks when life gets too much, saying that he had been there before.

He went on to say that God’s grace was what got him through the trying time.

Remi stated, “It was a very sad news yesterday, but I can absolutely relate to that. Yesterday, the news broke that DJ Twitch had committed suicide. Even though we always act as if everything is in order, we never really mean what we say. Men go through a lot. I remember having a series of tweets in 2017 that I later deleted. It was extremely homicidal. I was going through a lot, I was overwhelmed, I was thinking too much about my career, am I doing enough, am I enough, am I with the right person, so many thoughts in my mind, and someone called me a year later and said I should go delete those tweets.

“At a point I was unable to take it, I felt so futile, sufficiently not, bumbling, despite the fact that it was the opposite of what I believed, I was beating myself to an extreme, then, at that point, I began to tweet haphazardly and I was exceptionally near leaping off the extension or simply ending my life. I was able to overcome that only by God’s grace.

I usually keep things to myself and don’t share them, but I’ve learned to get better at doing that. Additionally, I simply wish to speak with each man present. It’s not easy, and it won’t be easy, but you should talk to someone. Always have someone you can talk to and open up with in your corner.

Life is beautiful, but it doesn’t always go as planned. We have to always find a balance and choose happiness over sadness. I’ve been there and experienced it.

“At the moment, I still warn myself that I take life one day at a time and shut down when I become overwhelmed. Mental health and depression are very important. We can improve. Just wanted to let you know.
