Newly sworn in Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has ordered the return of all state properties in possession with his predecessor appointees.

Goldennewsng reports the directive was issued on Wednesday in a statement by Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the governor.

The development is contained in a statement issued by the state governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to him the directive “was sequel to large-scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate past administration.”

Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s spokesperson noted that “Several official vehicles are missing while official records indicate that two-thirds of former state officials left with a fleet of cars in their offices.

“Most ministries, departments, and agencies were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers, and even residential fittings. Some top officials’ residences were similarly pillaged, even down to the lamp fitting.”

He said a warning has gone out to former officials who failed to comply with the directive, noting that erring officials would face the law.

However, Goldennewsng gathered that in his reaction to the directive, the Osun State Director of Operations for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sunday Akere, alleged that the current administration appeared uncoordinated.

He said “You set up a panel on this same asset matter yesterday (Wednesday). Is it that another committee has been set up in the office of the governor? They should be specific and we will respond appropriately.”
