An African American, Jacob Blake was shot several times from close range as he got into a car on Sunday, which has resulted in a fresh round of protests in the US city of Kanosha, Wisconsin.
Wisconsin’s Governor, Tony Evers said, “Jacob Blake after being shot seven times was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and was in critical condition.”
“While we do not have all the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black Man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or country.”
The shooting occured after police responded to a domestic incident call at around 5:11 pm.
Cellphone footage of the incident shows a black man heading to a gray SUV and was being followed by two police officers, who had their weapons drawn.
He was pulled back on his shirt as he tried to get into the driver’s seat and shot repeatedly on the back.
The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
