Surprise Shortlist: Applicant Receives Unexpected Message for Skill to Wealth Training

Some Nigerians have been surprised after receiving text messages saying they have been shortlisted for the Skill to Wealth Training Program, even though they do not remember applying.

One of the messages, which has now gone viral online, shows a notification sent to a young person congratulating them for being selected for the training. This has left many people asking questions about how the shortlist was made.

Just recently, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation announced a new training focused on auto repairs under the Skill to Wealth Program. The goal is to help Nigerians, especially youths, learn valuable skills that can help them earn money and reduce poverty.

But How Were People Selected?

The confusion started because many of the people who received the message said they never filled any application form.

Some believe their names may have come from old N-Power registration records. Others think they might have been selected through recommendations or past government empowerment programs. However, there is no official explanation yet.

“I didn’t apply for any training, so I was shocked when I got the message. But I saw that other people received the same message too,” said one person who got the notification.

What Is Skill to Wealth Training About?

The Skill to Wealth Program is meant to teach people useful skills that can help them start a business or get better jobs. Some of the areas the program focuses on include:

  • Digital skills and computer training

  • Auto repair and servicing

  • Tailoring and fashion design

  • Agriculture and small-scale farming

Those who are shortlisted will get free training and may also receive tools or support to help them start their own business.

People Want Answers

Many Nigerians are happy about the opportunity, but they also want the Ministry to speak up and explain how the shortlist was made.

For now, it is not clear if the message is for everyone who applied in the past or if it is from a new process. People are advised to be careful and wait for official updates from the Ministry before taking any further steps.

What You Should Do If You Got the Message

If you received the message:

  • Do not ignore it, but also be careful.

  • Check the Ministry’s official website or social media pages for any new updates.

  • Don’t share your personal information unless you are sure it’s a genuine message.

The Skill to Wealth Program is part of the Federal Government’s plan to reduce poverty by helping people learn profitable skills. Even though the surprise shortlist has raised some questions, it could also be a great opportunity for those selected.

Let’s hope the Ministry provides more information soon to clear up any confusion.
