Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has hailed Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes as a “tremendous” player, saying he has been the “best player” in the Premier League for “many periods” since he arrived England.
Fernandes joined the Red Devils last January from Sporting Lisbon and hit the grounds running immediately at Old Trafford, scoring 12 goals in the second-half of the season.
The 26-year-old has continued to impress during the 2020/2021 campaign, netting 16 times and providing nine assists in all competitions.
Ahead of Arsenal’s clash against United on Saturday evening, Arteta spoke glowingly about Fernandes.
“You look at the stats and what he [Fernandes] provides to the team; it is unquestionable that he has improved them dramatically and for many periods he has been the best player in the league probably,” Arteta said.
“The impact he’s had has been tremendous. They paid a big price to do that.”
