Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has recounted how she sold vegetables and fruits with her grandma for six years before stardom.
The 21-year-old made this known in an Instagram post on Monday, with a photo of some women selling fruits at a marketplace.
Captioning the photo, she wrote: “6 years ago this used to be me selling vegetables and fruits with my grandma singing to whomever wanted to hear me. Now people are paying to watch me perform. Will forever be grateful for where I am in my life, God really blessed me.”
The singer who’s signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records caught the attention of the Nigerian audience with the release of her debut hit, ‘Away’, in 2021.
In August, she released her debut album, 19 and Dangerous, which earned her the number 2 spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart in the same month.
