Bandits have kidnapped the Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu and 13 of his family members during an attack at his palace in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
GoldenNewsNG gathered that the bandits stormed the Emir of Kajuru’s palace in the early hours of Sunday morning and abducted three women, two of his grandchildren, three of his aides and five others persons.
Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar Kajuru, editor of Taskira Hausa Newspaper, said the the 85-year-old emir was abducted by the bandits numbering over 200 who stormed the emirate around 12:30 am firing gunshots.
He said, “they abducted the Emir and the Salama of Kajuru, Alh Abubakar Kajuru and his grandchildren. All in all 13 family members were abducted with the Emir.
“We are afraid the Emir might not survive it as he’s too old to undergo the rigous of trekking for hours,” he further added.
A source who pleaded for anonymity disclosed that on Friday, the Emir summoned a security meeting over threat to kidnap him.
“Just a day before the incident, the Emir summoned a security meeting about a potential ploy to kidnap him but, unfortunately, the security agents didn’t act on it,” the source said.
What Police Said About Emir Of Kajuru’s Abduction
Spokesman of Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the abduction, told newsmen that the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday.
Jalige said the 85-year-old second class traditional Ruler and the other victims were kidnapped from his palace.
The spokesperson, who did not give details of how the incident happened, said policemen had been mobilised to trail the bandits who are 30 kilometres away from the state capital.
He said a combined team comprising members of the Police Mobile Force, Operatives of Operation Puff Adder and Anti-kidnapping squad of the Kaduna State Police Command have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, with a view to rescuing the victims and arresting the criminals.
