A Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly led by House of Representatives candidates in the just concluded 2023 general election, has told party members to be calm and wait as they expressed confidence that the final judgement of the Presidential Elections Tribunal will favour the party.
In his address during a conference at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Forum, Engr Ahmed Rufa’i Dagumawa, said the PDP is expecting a positive and favourable verdict from the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
Recall that PDP and its presidential candidate in the just concluded general election, Atiku Abubakar, are challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the February 25th presidential election.
Speaking yesterday in Kano, Rufa’i said on behalf of the PDP Forum: “As democrats, we are calling on members of our great party, PDP, nationwide, to be calm and to wait for the judgement.
“We are expecting a very positive and good verdict that would enhance the dignity of the judicial system of this country.”
The group said it had high hopes that the court would do the needful in its verdict as the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
On the alleged division among members of the PDP in the State, the Forum said it was not aware of any faction within the ranks of the party.
Rufa’i stressed that as far as the group was concerned, the PDP remained an indivisible party in the State, with its members united for the good of the party and the people of the State.
