The school of health technology has been an educational Initiative birthed to increase the number of health professionals in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, The Federal Government of Nigeria gave a directive to all states government across to country to establish at least one school of health technology. And there was a massive increase across the states.

1. Lagos State College of Health Technology:

Popularly called LASCOHET, Lagos State College of Health Technology is one of the oldest colleges of health technology in Nigeria. It was formerly known as school of hygiene and was established in 1920.

2. Kwara State School of Health Technology:

Kwara State School of Health Technology was established in 1976 by the Kwara State government just after the directive from the federal government. It is situated in Offa and has produced over 6000 health professionals.

3. Anambra State College of Health Technology:

Established in 1992, Anambra State College of Education is rated one of the best school of health technology in Nigeria. It also boasts of seven (7) departments including environmental health and health information management.

4. College of Health Technology, Calabar:

Established in the mid-90s, College of Health Technology, Calabar is a well-recognized institution in Nigeria. It has also trained and graduated thousands of health professional. It is located at Mary Slessor Avenue in Calabar.

5. School of Health Information Management, OAU Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife. Osun State

School of Health Information Management, OAUTHC, the foremost Health Information Management Training School in Nigeria and Africa.
Presently, the school has gone beyond the original concept of its founders. It has not only made a phenomenal impact in the training of professional health Information Managers in Nigeria, the school programme has recently undergone tremendous restructuring and redesigning, leading to the change of nomenclature of the training programme from medical Records to Health Information Management in line with the directive of International Federation of Health Records Organization [IFHRO], a subsidiary of World Health Organization [WHO]. This is in response to changing manpower needs of the Health industry in Nigeria, as well as the need to ensure that the school training programme continually meets the objectives for which it is established.
The college is accepting candidates into various academic programmes including Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma  (ND which requires JAMB UTME) and similar certificate courses.
