Breaking: 15 people dead in one day as coronavirus ravages Lagos

One of the most populous states in Nigeria, Lagos state, has posted its highest COVID-19 deaths in a single day.

 

GoldenNewsNg gathered that this occurred on Monday, February 1, with the death of 15 people who lost their lives following complications from the ravaging virus.

The remaining six deaths were accounted for in three States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 676 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

This brings the total number of infected people to 131,918.

Till date, 131918 cases have been confirmed, 106275 cases have been discharged and 1607 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the federal capital territory.

Boss Mustapha, the PTF chairman made the disclosure on Monday, February 1, during a sensitization meeting on COVID-19 vaccine introduction in Abuja, The Nation reports.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said the fatality rate is 34 percent higher.

 

Meanwhile, on Friday, January 15, the federal ministry of health released new protocols for religious centers to adhere to.

The protocols include 12 updated guidelines for religious gatherings to follow to minimize the spread of coronavirus.
