A recent poll conducted by Premise Data Corp for Bloomberg said Mr. Obi received the support of two-thirds of the 2,384 Nigerians polled between January 26 and February 4.

Sixty-six percent of respondents declared their intentions to vote for Mr. Obi. 18 percent said they would vote Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ten percent declared support for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The results of the poll were released on Friday.

Mr. Obi has gained widespread support from Nigerians, despite being derided by other parties as a “social media candidate”.

The two-term former governor of Anambra State has defeated established candidates like Messrs Tinubu and Abubakar in the two Bloomberg polls conducted so far.

Mr. Obi had scored 72 percent in an earlier poll by the news organization in September.

A similar survey by Nigeria’s data intelligence gatherer, Stears, says the coast will only be clear for Mr. Obi’s presidential victory if there was a massive turnout of voters on February 25.
