A decomposing body was discovered on Sunday inside a vehicle parked at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
The deceased, identified as 55-year-old Gaddafi Iwar, a Tiv man believed to be a labourer at an ongoing construction site within the complex, was found lifeless in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF at about 9:00 a.m.
His remains were first taken to the National Assembly Clinic for confirmation, before being conveyed to the Asokoro General Hospital, which reportedly rejected the body due to its advanced state of decomposition. The Tiv community and youth leaders later moved the corpse to Gbawu Village, a border town between AMAC and Kuje Area Council, where he was buried to prevent a potential health hazard.
In a separate incident in Kwara State, gunmen abducted the wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Sakpefu community, Patigi Local Government Area.
The victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima and Amina, wife and daughter of the APC chairman, Muhammad Swasun, were kidnapped when armed men stormed the community on Sunday night, shooting sporadically to scare residents.
“They abducted his wife and daughter and took them away to an unknown destination,” a source confirmed.
