In a tragic incident, a police station in Gajiram town, Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State, was attacked by suspected fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), resulting in the loss of at least four policemen’s lives.
According to goldennewsng, armed and determined attackers stormed the police facility, firing upon officers on duty and partially setting the station ablaze. The assault not only led to the devastating loss of lives but also witnessed insurgents making off with a significant cache of ammunition.
Security sources reported that the ISWAP fighters, outnumbering and overpowering the police on duty, left four dead bodies behind, and some policemen are still missing.
Despite military reinforcement arriving later, the invaders had already fled the scene. As of the time of this report, the police are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
