Breaking: Nigeria Labour Congress Bows To FG Pressure, Suspends Nationwide Strike

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has  suspended proposed strike.

 

GoldenNewsNg reports that Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has suspended the proposed nationwide strike after reaching an agreement with the Federal Government.

According to the Minister of State for Labour, the agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Labour Unions on Monday morning is that deregulation will stay with the Federal Government rolling out palliatives for labour. The minister said the details of the palliatives, would be disclosed in the next two weeks.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment also disclosed that the electricity tariffs has been suspended by government for 2 weeks with a joint Committee headed him (Keyamo) to examine the justification for the new policy.

Keyamo added that the Labour unions have suspended the proposed strike action which was scheduled to start from today (Monday) according to an earlier tweet by the NLC.

Nigeria Labour Congress Reaches Agreement With FG, Calls Off Nationwide Strike

 

GoldenNewsNg understands that this is coming hours after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had earlier called on Nigerians in a tweet to prepare for strike action if its demands were not met by the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
