Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness following the killing of soldiers in an ambush and a subsequent helicopter crash in Niger State.
Goldennewsng reported that bandits, earlier in the week, killed some troops of the Nigerian Army in an ambush and crashed a helicopter in Chukuba Village near Shiroro in the area of the state.
In a statement on Saturday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the former president said his thoughts are with those injured and prayed for their recovery at the earliest.
Buhari also expressed his condolence to President Bola Tinubu, the Armed Forces of the Federation and the families of the deceased.
He said: “I am saddened by the helicopter accident following the tragic ambush in which we have lost our brave army personnel. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recover at the earliest.
“My heartfelt condolences to the President, @officialABAT, the Armed Forces of the Federation and the families of the deceased.
“With the soldier discipline in our troops, it is a matter of time before they overcome.“
