Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun popularly called AY has announced to his teaming fans that his movie “Merry Men II” will be out on Netflix any time soon. AY used the opportunity to also promote the campaign against rape which has been on for some time now.
The effect of the brutal rape and murder of some young girls in Nigeria will remain for a long time as most celebrities in Nigeria have been using any available means to campaign against the sad incident.
Such campaigns have been directed against men who are obviously responsible for such acts. The message has also been that “real men don’t rape” and the need for the consent of a lady before any act of sex has also been emphasized. Whether that will work out to stop the raping of young girls in Nigeria is uncertain as just few days after Uwa a University student was gang-raped and murdered in a church another girl was also gang-raped and killed.
This has made many people to argue that protest ad displeasure should have been directed against the government for failing to protect women and girls in Nigeria so that some institutional changes can be effected.
