The Delta State Government has approved the re-opening of Schools in the State, with a Sept 28 date penciled down.
Chief Patrick Ukah, the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education made this known in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.
“Js 1 and 2 students as well as their counterparts in SS 1 and 2 will resume on Monday September 28, 2020 to enable them commence their 2nd term examinations which will be concluded on October 9.”
Ukah also noted that primaries 4 and 5 pupils will resume on October 5 inorder to write their 2nd term examinations which will be concluded on Oct 9, with a decision to waive 2nd term for pupils in primaries 1 and 2 already agreed. Boarding students will resume on Sunday Sept 27.
He stated further that resumption for 1st term 2020/21 academic year for all students both in primary and secondary is slated for Monday, October 12 and will end on Dec 18, 2020, while resumption for 2nd term has been scheduled for January 4, 2021 to end March 31, 2021.
Third term would commence on April 12 and end on August 13, 2021 explaining that the long duration for the term was to give students ample time to cover rolled-over content from the previous term, inter-house sports, and mid-term break which were not applicable to other terms.
Nursery and pre-primary, Kg 1-3 pupils have had their resumption deferred to January, 2021.
