Anxiety in Minna the Niger state capital as the Speaker, House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Bawa Wuse, two members and the Clerk of the Assembly, Mohammed Kagara over the weekend tested positive to COVID 19 (Coronavirus).
The member representing Bida 2, Hon. Haruna Alhaji Baba confirmed the incident, adding that about two weeks ago, the member representing Gurara Constituency, Hon. Binta Mamman also tested positive.
It was reliably gathered that the Speaker, other lawmakers and principal staff have gone into isolation to remain quarantined as the State experiences the second wave of the virus.
Confirming the situation on Sunday, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mohammed Sani Idris said the Speaker and Clerk of the Assembly are down with Covid-19 and currently on isolation, adding that the two are doing well.
Findings have it that the spike in COVID 19 in the state has resulted in death of some prominent Nigerlites in recent days including that of a former Head of Service Alhaji Mohammed Maude Lapai, which occurred on Saturday.
It was learnt that fears have gripped workers in the state and those from the Assembly in particular due to the latest development.
Another source at the Assembly told our Correspondent that most of the test carried on the lawmakers returned negative except that of the Speaker, two members and the Clerk.
It should be noted that the state government had directed workers to stay at home from Monday (today) while all schools have been shut since Friday.
The Government also ordered the closure of public and private schools and tertiary institutions across the state for the period of thirty days.
