The latest ranking, offering ongoing updates on the net worth and rankings of confirmed billionaires, indicates that Dangote’s fortune increased by $10 million, reaching $10.1 billion as of January 8, 2024.
In this development, he surpassed Johann Rupert, a South African luxury goods tycoon, and his family. Rupert’s net worth on January 8 stood at $10 billion, reflecting a decline from $10.7 billion on December 30, 2023.
As the CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote now holds the 191st position globally, while Johann Rupert and his family are placed at 197th. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index also recognizes Dangote as the wealthiest individual in Africa.
Bloomberg attributes the majority of Dangote’s wealth to his 86 percent stake in the publicly traded Dangote Cement. These shares are held both directly and through his conglomerate, Dangote Industries.
