Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former commissioner for information in Edo state, has voiced his confidence in obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the upcoming 2024 governorship election in the state.

Former Commissioner for Information in Edo state, Prince Kassim Afegbua, has confidently declared his intention to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2024 governorship election in the state. In an interview with Arise News, he expressed his nonchalance towards the activities of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party, both having over 20 aspirants vying for their respective tickets.

Having recently switched from the PDP to the APC, Afegbua boldly conveyed to party leaders his request for the ticket, asserting his capability to triumph over any PDP or Labour Party candidate. He attributed his confidence to his in-depth understanding of the state, widespread name recognition, and his ability to articulate issues effectively.

“I’m not going to bother myself with what happens in PDP for now, when they give me the ticket. I’ve told them ‘Emi lo kan’ (It’s me they should consider). They should give me this ticket and let me go and bring home the trophy. I will trounce any of the candidates of PDP and Labour Party, if APC can give me the ticket for that party,” Afegbua confidently stated.

He emphasized his quest for a political platform that aligns with his ideals, enabling him to implement his ideas for the benefit of Edo people. Afegbua expressed a willingness to be criticized, emphasizing the need to contribute actively to governance rather than solely criticizing from the sidelines.

As one of nine aspirants seeking the APC ticket, Afegbua, who hails from Edo Central Senatorial District, expressed confidence that the party would respect the zoning arrangement and award him the ticket. He claimed the support of former governor Adams Oshiomhole, also from Edo North, stating that Oshiomhole sees him as the best candidate for the job.

Afegbua outlined his manifesto, focusing on addressing infrastructural decay and leadership deficiencies in the state. He pledged to revitalize education, improve healthcare, boost agriculture, enhance security, and empower the youth. Additionally, he promised alignment with federal government policies to ensure Edo state benefits from the APC-led administration.

In his appeal to the people of Edo state, Afegbua urged support for his candidacy, presenting himself as the best candidate to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki and elevate Edo state to greater heights.
