Two group observing the Edo State Governorship Election, Transitioning Monitoring Group TMG and Edo Civil Society Organization EDOCSO, have rated the Saturday’s election as mostly free and fair.
However, voter inducement across all 18 local governments of the State was cited in the group report.
“The two major parties APC and PDP were involved and trying to outdo each other in voter inducement with suspected party leaders glaringly seen sharing money to a group of voters, mostly women in many polling units.”
Abiola Akiyode Afolabi made this known in a signed preliminary report released on Saturday.
Despite the few lapses observed, the group mostly gave yesterday’s election a thumbs up.
Some of the incidents that contributed to the elections success cited by the group include, impressive voters turn out, fair and adequate security, and adequate election materials amongst others.
