President Bola Tinubu has been commended by the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) for making tough decisions in the country’s best interest.

Speaking with State House correspondents on Thursday in Abuja after a meeting with the president, the council’s vice-president, Bashir Umar, urged Tinubu to swiftly address the challenges faced by Nigerians. Umar expressed concern that the faith ticket that propelled Tinubu to victory in the 2023 polls has not lived up to expectations. He stated, “We request that he expedite action to alleviate the hardship resulting from the tough economic decisions and implore him to deploy all available resources to tackle insecurity and ensure food security.”

“Today, we are here on a courtesy call to the president, demonstrating our solidarity and commendation for the tough decisions he is making for the country. Additionally, we presented to him the communique from our recently concluded conference, which convened Islamic scholars, academics, intellectuals, and civil society organizations to analyze the 2023 elections and establish a consensus on the way forward.”

President Tinubu received the Communique issued by the Council, presented by a delegation of the SCSN led by its President, Sheikh Abdur-Rasheed Hadiyyatullah, at the Council Chambers in the State House.
