The Federal Executive Council FEC has engaged the services of eight field forensic Auditors to audit the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC with the sum of N722.3 million approved for the exercise.
The presidency will be directly responsible for the payment since the National Assembly is still on break and the 2020 budget for the NDDC is yet to be passed.
Also on the activities of the field auditors is the abandoned projects in the Niger Delta totalling 12,000.
Godwin Akpabio the minister of Niger Delta made this disclosure on Wednesday after the virtual FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It will be recalled that NDDC got embroiled in corruption allegations in the award of contracts and the non payment of Nigeria scholars under the payroll of the commission.
