Nigeria’s 3 Million Technical Talent Program: A Gateway to Digital Innovation

In a move that holds the promise of transforming Nigeria into a hub of digital excellence, the federal government has officially launched the 3 Million Technical Talent Program (3MTT). This ambitious initiative aims to train 3 million technical talents by 2025, ushering in a new era of digital innovation and growth. The program is a central component of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy’s strategy to cultivate a robust workforce and bolster the country’s digital economy.

3MTT: Fostering Technical Talent at Scale

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program is a visionary endeavor designed to harness the immense potential of Nigeria’s youth. It forms a vital part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to create 2 million digital jobs by 2025, a vision that holds the promise of revolutionizing the nation’s economy.

About 3MTT

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program is a linchpin in Nigeria’s Renewed Hope agenda. Its primary objective is to establish a thriving ecosystem of technical talent capable of propelling the nation’s digital economy to new heights. This initiative seeks to not only foster local talent but also position Nigeria as a net exporter of technical expertise.

 

First Phase in Collaboration with NITDA

The inaugural phase of the program, executed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is set to be a game-changer. It involves a multitude of stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations, all working in unison to realize the program’s lofty goals.

The program’s first phase adopts a fellowship model, in partnership with NITDA. It will identify individuals with specific skills and fund their training with training providers who have been selected for this pioneering program.

This undertaking is meticulously crafted to deliver technical training to future cohorts, ensuring that Nigeria continues to produce a stream of skilled talent to power its digital economy.
