Femi Fani-Kayode Vs EFCC: Thanks God After Leaving Custody
GoldenNewsNg gathered that the former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode who had earlier denied being arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending six (6) hours in their custody has thanked God for the commission’s ‘politeness and professionalism.
Fani-Kayode said contrary to reports that he was apprehended and taken to the Lagos zonal office of the EFCC, he flew to Lagos following his invitation by the anti-graft agency.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday night, the former minister wrote: “Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited and I flew down to Lagos to see them.
“I arrived in their office at 2.00pm and left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite and professional. Thanks be to God,” he said.
GoldenNewsNg gathered that Fani-Kayode, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, was picked up by EFCC operatives for alleged manipulation and forgery of a medical report to enable him evade his trial by the anti-graft agency.
The former presidential aide is standing trial before the Lagos State Federal High Court for alleged N4.6 billion fraud.
