The Federal Government (FG) is set to shortlist fellows for the second phase of the 3MTT programme on February 29, 2024. According to Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, this update marks significant progress in the initiative.
Dr. Bosun Tijani highlighted that the announcement of fellows for the 2nd phase will be made on February 29th, 2024, with training expected to commence in March. The programme has garnered positive feedback from the first cohort, having undergone training across 12 skill areas. The Minister emphasized the importance of feedback in refining the programme’s execution for both fellows and training providers across Nigeria.
With plans to train an additional 270,000 fellows over the next 18 months, the FG expresses gratitude for the support received from partners and stakeholders. As the first cohort graduates, job placements are being finalized with over 1,400 organizations expressing interest in hiring from the programme.
The 3MTT initiative aims not only to deliver technically trained talent but also to connect them with employment opportunities, aligning with its objective to bridge the skills gap and foster economic growth. Partnerships with organizations like NITDA, IHS Towers, and UNDP Nigeria have been instrumental, with plans to expand collaborations further.
