It’s official , Wednesday, May 1st, 2025 has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government in honour of Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the government. He used the opportunity to salute Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication, and sacrifices over the years.
“Workers are the backbone of our nation,” Tunji-Ojo said. “Your hard work is what keeps our country moving and gives Nigeria a place of respect among nations.”
The Minister emphasized the importance of peace in driving the country’s industrial and economic development. He encouraged workers across all sectors to embrace innovation, improve productivity, and remain committed to their roles in building a better Nigeria.
“There is dignity in labour,” he said. “The work we do, no matter the field, plays a crucial role in shaping our nation’s future.”
Tunji-Ojo also gave assurances that the government remains committed to protecting the lives and property of all citizens and residents, and reiterated the Tinubu administration’s promise to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark this year’s Workers’ Day, the Minister wished all Nigerian workers a joyful and restful holiday, urging everyone to remain hopeful for a brighter future.
