In a heartwarming Yuletide gesture, President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to uplifting the lives of vulnerable Nigerians was evident as the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation disbursed N20,000 grants to over 5,000 beneficiaries in Cross River State. The grants, particularly aimed at vulnerable and very poor individuals, including People With Disabilities (PWDs), were distributed on Christmas Day, eliciting joy and gratitude from recipients.
N-Power Resumes Payments: Stipends and Renewed Hope Agenda
Amid the celebration, it was announced that the payment of backlog stipends for N-Power beneficiaries is ongoing, with nearly 400,000 beneficiaries already receiving one month’s payment during the festive season. Additionally, President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda includes reducing road, rail, and air transport costs by half during the Christmas period, providing relief to millions.

Speaking at the event held at the Millennium Park in Calabar, Minister Betta Edu praised President Tinubu’s dedication to alleviating poverty in Nigeria. She emphasized that the one-off grants were part of the President’s determination to lift vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty and assured that the program would expand in the coming year.
Cross River State Governor and First Lady Express Gratitude
Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, and the First Lady, Reverend Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for championing the cause of the poor and prioritizing citizen welfare. The Governor commended the Grants for the Vulnerable Program, stating that it would undoubtedly make a significant impact on countless lives in the state.

Minister Edu urged beneficiaries to invest the grants responsibly, emphasizing that the funds were intended to kickstart or boost small businesses for sustained economic growth. She reminded recipients that these grants were deliberate acts by the federal government to lift people out of poverty.
