FG Reveals Plans For NPower, Other NSIP Programme
Dr. Betta Edu, the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has disclosed President Bola Tinubu’s intentions regarding Npower and other government humanitarian programs.
An important question raised by the news anchor was whether she intended to continue the National Social Investment Programmes, which included Npower, that were previously implemented by the prior administration.
The reporter inquired:
“Your party, which was in power until recently, had established significant National Social Investment Programmes. Are you adhering strictly to these initiatives, or do you have plans to introduce new ones?”
In response, the Honourable Minister stated:
“We are preparing to introduce numerous fresh innovations into the system. Nevertheless, the initiatives undertaken by the previous administration have proven highly valuable and beneficial.
“We will be refining certain aspects and carefully reviewing past endeavors to rectify any shortcomings, while also expanding to accommodate a larger number of individuals.
“Our focus will encompass the creation of millions of jobs and the distribution of support and sustenance to households in the remotest corners of Nigeria, where underserved populations reside.
“Consequently, our efforts will fall under the comprehensive poverty alleviation scheme. Notably, we are launching a Humanitarian Trust Fund, embarking on an extensive resource mobilization drive to address the needs of the Nigerian populace.”
