Following the fresh ISWAP and Nigerian Army Clash, The Army Has Imposed Curfew on Askira Uba, Repels Fresh ISWAP Attack
The Nigerian Army has reportedly imposed a curfew in Askira Uba and its environs as troops repelled another attack from the Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighters.
It can be recalled that a source had previously disclosed that the terrorists set houses on fire in Dille village in the Local Government Area on Monday.
GoldenNewsNg gathered that the source who spoke with Daily Trust on the development noted that the fighters invaded the affected community around 5:30 pm.
He stated that the terrorists stole from stores, carting away food items, adding that they set houses they stole from on fire.
But in the light of a new revelation GoldenNewsNg gathered that another intelligence source told PRNigeria that ISWAP attack on Dilli was swiftly repelled by the combined efforts of Air Taskforce and ground troops.
An intelligence source said troops remained vigilant and combat-ready having got information on the movements of the ISWAP terrorists in some villages.
“We got intelligence that ISWAP Fighters were moving towards a bridge East of Wamdeo and Roumirgou villages in Askira Uba Province.
“We repelled their attempt today at a remote village called Dille under Lassa, We are not taking chances as we are in combat-ready to deal with them,” the source said
The fresh attack is coming hours after the terrorist group attacked a military base in Askira Uba killing a General and three other military officers.
However, it was disclosed that the army also killed about fifty terrorists after Brig-Gen Dzarma Zirkusu and some soldiers were killed in the weekend attacks.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, disclosed that troops of 115 Task Force Battalion conducted dawn exploitation towards Leho village and environs.
