Good News for NPower: Nasims Reverse Changed Status To Beneficiaries

Recall that a few weeks back, GoldenNewsNg reported that Npower Nasims management carried out an update on the Nasims self-service portal. Consequently, certain details of the beneficiaries on the portal were modified, resulting in a transition of their status from “Beneficiary” to “Applicant.”

On August 18, 2023, Nasims announced that the status of N-power batch C beneficiaries within the npower program has been reinstated to “BENEFICIARY” after the update. This means that beneficiaries now have the ability to access the Nasims platform to review their current status.

In addition, Dr. Betta Edu has been designated as the Minister in charge of the Npower program under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

This recent development raises expectations that the management will rejuvenate the Npower program to its previous levels of excellence and, perhaps, address the issue of the beneficiaries’ unpaid stipends spanning over 8 months.

A session of the National Economic Council (NEC) took place in Abuja on August 17, 2023. During this session, progress updates were presented regarding the nationwide distribution of essential items like rice, grains, and fertilizer to various states. Additionally, the Federal Government extended financial support amounting to N5 billion. The Council lauded the interventions carried out by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Consequently, the Council acknowledged various steps taken by state governments and encouraged them to intensify the distribution of palliative measures to ease the suffering of their residents, particularly those who are most disadvantaged.
