UI is fully accredited to offer Geology in Nigeria. Students who wish to become Geologists and find UI a suitable school for study can either apply through JAMB or other direct entry programs like JUPEB.

Requirements Check List

To study Geology in UI, you must meet the following JAMB and O’ level subject (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) requirements:

  • JAMB Subject: Use of English and Any three (3) of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Geography.
  • O’ level (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB) Requirement: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and any other subject.
  • Direct Entry Requirements: Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes from Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Geography.

UI Cut Off Mark For Geology

To study Geology in UI, you must score at least 200 in JAMB to qualify for Post UTME. However, scoring 200 in JAMB won’t guarantee your admission into the Faculty of Sciences in UI to study Geology. Geology may not be as competitive as medicine, but it still requires a good JAMB score. A JAMB score of 240 and above, combined with doing very well in UI Post UTME Exam, is a prerequisite.

Post UTME Score For Geology In UI

A score of 55 in UI Post UTME is good enough for Geology. However, admission to the program is dependent on varying factors such as merit, ELDS, and general student performance. Students admitted on the merit list must score well above the aggregate score for Geology. Based on previous years, the aggregate score for Geology in UI is 50.

UI Geology Aggregate Score

UI Aggregate score for admission to Geology is 50. To calculate UI admission aggregate score, you divide your JAMB Score by 8 and your Post UTME score by 2 and sum them up. A student who wishes to study Geology in UI and scored 240 in JAMB and 55 in Post UTME would have an aggregate score of 57.5.

Other Direct Entry Requirements

JUPEB Program for Geology in UI

Aside from JAMB, you can also be admitted to study Geology through JUPEB ( Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) , which is an acronym for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. The program spans for 1 year (2 semesters) and successful candidates would then be given admission to study Geology beginning from 200 level. During the course of the program, you will need to pay a fee of NGN150,000, which can be paid in installment.

JAMB Direct Entry

Students who have studied other courses before and want to study Geology can apply through JAMB direct entry and be admitted to 200 level.
