Are you interested in starting a well-paying job in healthcare? If you’re a Pharmacist, Medical Doctor, Laboratory Scientist, or Nurse/Midwife who wants to make a positive impact, you might want to consider applying for this year’s NHIS Recruitment. In this guide, we’ll explain the steps you need to take to increase your chances of joining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) team.

About the National Health Insurance Scheme:

The NHIS is an organization created in 1999 (now known as Act 35) to provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare to all Nigerians. On May 24th, 2022, it became the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) officially recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The NHIS is actively looking for highly motivated and qualified professionals to strengthen its state offices. There are various job openings, including positions like Nursing Officers, Medical Managers, Pharmacy Managers, and more.

Requirements for NHIS Recruitment:

To qualify for full-time employment, here are the main criteria:

  1. Show good behavior and composure.
  2. Be willing to adapt to new work environments.
  3. Possess a valid means of identification (e.g., driver’s license, ID card, passport, voter’s card, or NIN Number).
  4. Have strong teamwork skills.
  5. Provide proof of NYSC discharge or exemption.
  6. Hold a current practice license from the relevant Regulatory Council.
  7. Be fully registered with the appropriate Regulatory Council.
  8. For higher positions, having a post-graduate qualification in public health, family medicine, health planning, or management is a plus.
  9. For specific roles like Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, and Laboratory Science, you must have qualifications recognized by the respective councils.
  10. Preferred qualifications include experience and skills in healthcare services and facilities monitoring and evaluation.
  11. Depending on the position, additional years of experience may be required beyond the entry level.

Steps to Apply:

  1. Write an application letter and create a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  2. Make photocopies of your certificates.
  3. Write the Application/State Code on the envelope.
  4. Address your application to the Executive Secretary/CEO, National Health Insurance Scheme, Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.
  5. Send the soft copy of your application to info@nhis.gov.ng.
  6. Submit the hard copy to your preferred NHIS state office (addresses can be found on the official website at www.nhis.gov.ng).
  7. Only shortlisted candidates will move on to the next phase, and you’ll be notified via email.
  8. Screening for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled, with details sent via email.
