How to Join Nigerian Army as a Graduate: Step-by-Step Guide

If you are a Nigerian graduate aspiring to serve in the Nigerian Army, here is a step-by-step guide on how to join as a Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) candidate:

  1. Visit the Official Recruitment Portal:
    • Go to the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng/
  2. Select “SSC/DSSC Application (Graduates)”:
    • On the portal, locate and click on the option that says “SSC/DSSC Application (Graduates).”
  3. Fill Out the Application Form:
    • Follow the instructions provided on the portal to fill out the application form. Ensure that you provide accurate and truthful information.
  4. Join the FG Discussion WhatsApp Group:
    • Join the Federal Government (FG) discussion WhatsApp group to stay connected and receive relevant updates.
  5. Understand DSSC Requirements:
    • Familiarize yourself with the specific requirements for Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC). This includes age limits, educational qualifications, height criteria, and health standards.
  6. Prepare Necessary Documents:

To be eligible for Direct Short Service Commission in the Nigerian Army, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Citizenship: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens as defined by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • Age Requirement: Between 22 and 28 years old.
  • Height: For males, the height requirement is 1.68 meters, and for females, it is 1.65 meters.
  • Educational Qualification: Not less than a second class lower division or Higher National Diploma (HND) with not less than a lower credit.
  • Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically, physically, and mentally fit.
  • No Conviction: No conviction by any court for criminal-related offenses.
  • NYSC Discharge Certificate: Possession of NYSC discharge certificate or a letter of exemption.
  • Birth Certificate: Birth certificate from a hospital, court, or National Population Commission.
  • Certificate of State of Origin: Certificate of State of Origin is required.
