However, it’s important to note that each bank in Nigeria may have slightly different requirements, although they are generally similar. The following requirements are common and should be considered when looking to open a dollar account online with most banks in Nigeria.

To open a dollar account in Nigeria, you’ll need the following:

1. Your Bank Identification Number (BVN) will be required.
2. You need to present a recent utility bill from the last 1 to 3 months.
3. The bank will need 1 or 2 passport photographs from you.
4. Provide a valid means of identification, such as; your international passport, voter’s card, National ID, NIN Slip, or driver’s license.
5. You need to provide a reference i.e. a person with a current account, either with the same bank or a different one.

  2. Click ‘Select Country,’ pick Nigeria, and then click Submit.
  3. Under Account Type, choose Open With BVN, and wait for the page to load.
  4. Enter your BVN, Phone Number, Email Address, and Date of Birth (Make sure it matches your BVN). Pick Freedom Savings Domiciliary under Account Type, agree to the terms, and click Next.
  5. Wait for an OTP code sent to your BVN registered phone number, enter it, and move to the next page.

  4. Email the completed form to: customerservice@unionbankng.com and wait a few days for your dollar account to be ready.

Creating a dollar account with ALAT by Wema Bank is easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Download the ALAT app on your Android or iOS device from this link for Android or iOS.
  2. Create your account and verify your details with your BVN and NIN.
  3. Once your Wema account is set up, click on “My Account” and create a domiciliary account, choosing USD as your preferred currency.
