‘I’m Lost Without You’ – Wizkid Says At His Mom’s Funeral

A video of Nigerian superstar singer, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid getting emotional during the burial event of his late mother on Thursday, has emerged on social media.

Goldennewsng recalls the singer’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, died on August 18, 2023.

The family earlier announced her burial arrangement and funeral rite in an e-flier shared on social media on Sunday, stating that a wake and tribute will be held in the deceased’s honour on October 12, while the funeral will take place the following day, October 13.

During the wake and tribute event in Lagos, the family members had the opportunity to pay their last respects to the deceased.

When Wizkid was handed the microphone to speak, the singer, in an emotion-laden voice, expressed how deeply he’ll miss his mother.

“I’m lost without you, Mom. I love you so much. I love you,” he said.

Born on July 26, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. His father married three wives.

Wizkid’s mother was a familiar sight at most of his concerts and events.

She was born on July 14, 1957 and is survived by her husband, M.O Balogun, and four children, namely Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid) and many grandchildren.
