After the Plateau State rerun election on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) suspended the electoral officer for Jos North Local Government Area, Fred Ogboji, due to missing ballots.

The announcement was made by Isah Idakwo, the state head of the Department of Electoral Operations, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), during a statement in Jos on Sunday.

To facilitate a thorough investigation, the REC instructed Ogboji to step aside and hand over responsibilities to Mr. Elekwa Onyemauche, the local government supervisor, along with the two registration area supervisors of Tudun Wada Kabong and Naraguta B.

The missing House of Representatives ballot papers in 16 polling units prompted the postponement of elections within the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency. The rescheduled poll is set for Sunday, February 4, as stated by the state INEC REC, Dr. Oliver Agundu, who revealed the discovery of the missing ballots on the eve of the election.
