The Governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani Bello has come under attacks the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP) in the State on Tuesday lambasted him over the state of kidnappings saying “the state is adrift, rudderless and just an inch to failure”.
The PDP in a statement signed by the state Chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji and made available to Journalists in Minna advised the Governor to without further delay ensure the rescue of the abducted Tegina Islammiyya children, teachers and his own Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Sani Idris with urgency.
Beji however asked “how does Governor Sani Bello, sleeps well, eat well, smiles and junkets around the world using state resources knowing that the people he swore to protect are in the hands of daredevil terrorists?”
Accordingly, he said “the PDP is roundly disgusted and alarmed, that over 70 days after the Tegina Islammiyya children were kidnapped, no word or even mere body movement to show seriousness from Governor Sani Bello.
“Even with the recent kidnap of his own Commissioner and cabinet member kidnapped in Tafa Local Government Are. We, in the PDP will come to a conclusion that Niger state is adrift, rudderless and just an inch to failure”.
While expressing disappointment at the recent abductions, Beji said “Governor Bello and the APC has no business being in any leadership position considering the inept, clueless and classless leadership they have rendered over the past 6 years”.
The two termed Chairman of the PDP in the state described the state government’s attitude as “unfortunate and very sad”, adding that, “while the PDP conveys it prayers and heartfelt sadness to the families, we make haste to remind Governor Abubakar Sani Bello that the primary responsibility of any Government is security of lives and properties especially, this case that involves 136 children of ages between 5 and 15 years old”.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy it should be recalled was abducted on Sunday night while at his Tafa home.
