The attacks are coming on the heels of many activities of bandits and terrorist organizations which has led to the loss of lives in many villages, particularly in the Northern part of Nigeria.

An official of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union, BEPU, who disclosed the attack to journalists on Monday, said over a hundred families have been displaced following the attack.

BEPU stated that in the last five days, they had been raising the alarm about the heartless attacks by terrorists in Damari, following the withdrawal of Ansaru, a Boko Haram splinter group, from the area.

Chairman of BEPU, Alhaji Ishaq Kasai, stated: “Bandits encircled Damari and abducted about 50 people when troops from Dogon-Dawa military base escorted some residents who were willing to move to comfort zones in neighbouring communities and even as far away Zaria.”

The communities Danga Chugwi in Jos South and Bangalala in Wase local government are mourning their loss from an attack suspected to be carried out by Fulani herdsmen according to villagers.

Villagers in Danga Chugwi community in Jos South Local Council Area are mourning their loss following a clash between a vigilante group and bandits in Bangalala town, Wase Local Council of the state had claimed 18 lives on both sides.

The loss of 18 lives in Bangalala community of Wase Local government followed the clash of bandits and the community vigilante.

The bandits had attacked the village and destroyed houses and properties leading the villagers to flee to safety.

The vigilante however regrouped and launched an attack on the bandits who were occupying the village.

According to villagers, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Chugwi community in the early hours on Sunday leaving seven persons dead.

Danda Chugwi community in Jos South, on Sunday who confirmed the incident to journalists, on Monday, said the Danda Chugwi killings came less than 24 hours after 18 persons were killed during a clash between bandits and the vigilante group in Wase.

Speaking to The Guardian and promising to investigate the clash between bandits and vigilantes in Bangalala, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said the vigilantes might have unknowingly committed murder during the attack.

Alabo said, “If you fight bandits and recover exhibits, is it not a good thing? Then, you report it to the police. If you don’t want to report to the police, you report to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence or Customs represented there. Why will you leave all the government agencies and go to the newspaper to publish?”
