Insecurity: Combined security force Repel Bandits, neutralize attacks on Niger Communities

The combined team of the Police from Gawu-Babangida Division and Paiko Division of Niger state Command, the Nigeria Military, and local vigilante have repelled attacks around Kwakuti-Dajigbe and some communities around Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

The repel followed a gun duel between gunmen suspected to be Bandits and men of the Police in Niger State Police Command which left several Bandits escaped with bullet wounds, a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and four others have lost their lives.

Making this known on Sunday in Minna, the State Commissioner of Police CP Ogundele Ayodeji said the Police on Saturday 11th February, 2023 at exactly 11am received information that armed bandits were sighted around Kwakuti-Dajigbe villages area of Lambata in an attempt to attack some communities around Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

According to him “a combined team of Police from Gawu-Babangida Division and Paiko Division, Military, and local vigilante members were drafted to the scene.

“The hoodlums were engaged in a gun duel and repelled with scores of them being neutralized, while others escaped with bullet injuries.

Regrettably, the DPO Paiko, SP Mukhtar Sabiu and four other Police personnels from both Divisions lost their lives during the gun duel”.

When he led a reinforcement team to the scene to recover the bodies of the deceased personnel, the Commissioner of Police condoled with the families of the affected personnel.

In a similar situation, the COMPOL disclosed that, suspected bandits had on Friday 10th February, 2023 at 3pm attempted to attack the Chibani village market via Sarkin-Pawa in Munya LGA.

However, the Police tactical team and local vigilante mobilized to the market where the hoodlums were routed and successfully repelled them without any havoc, though the situation according to him caused some panic but that normalcy was restored.

He reassure members of the public that the Command will not relent in the fight against banditry and other criminality in the State.
