The Insecurity in Edo state is becoming worse as the City is currently on fire following cult gangs and hoodlums  taking over major parts of the metropolis unleashing mayhem at innocent citizens.

GoldenNewsNg gathered that Benin City has never had it so bad in terms of insecurity, the situation is so deplorable and can be traced to some ugly occurrences.

Edo State witnessed a bloody #EndSARS protest which led to two jailbreaks and the razing down of no fewer than seven police stations by hoodlums and criminal gangs.

Notorious gang lords were on the loose with arms and ammunition carted away, it only became a matter of time for the great manifestation to unveil.

As if to add salt to injury the major confraternities in the city engaged themselves in a bitter rivalry for supremacy. Not one, not two but four CONFRA were at loggerheads with themselves

The Black Axe, Eiye, Vikings and Maphite confraternities are all involved.

Following the Insecurity in Edo

The notorious cult killers who before now have been tamed by the security agencies and thrown into jail were freed during the EndSARS jailbreak. Criminal warlords that were jailed for orchestrating countless murders are now on the prowl.

The police who are supposed to be on the streets are demoralized and have adopted the Siddon look na dog name approach.

Yesterday a senior professor of the University of Benin and his family were assaulted by suspected armed robbers who gained entry to their home in highbrow GRA by scaling the fence, they robbed the occupants of their belongings and made away with the Professor’s Rav 4 Jeep.

Another worrisome development was recorded same yesterday when earlier in the day armed men disguised as traders robbed a popular yam market at Dawson road by Foresty in Benin City.

Almost all traders were victims of well-armed criminals.

Well, all hope is not lost as the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has initiated traditional methods in curbing the unwarranted excesses of these bloody hoodlums.

The Edo State Government in collaboration with Ikpoba Okha Local Govt council has approved a 70 Vigilante [men] to complement the efforts of conventional security apparatus in the local government area.

Also the Inspector General of Police has deployed five units of mobile police force to troubled areas in the State.

The coming days are expected to see an improvement in the security situation in the State.
